Light anti-tank weapons are designed to take out the tracks to disable a tank or hit it in the rear to try and disable the engine (unless you have a Merkava, where the engine is in the front and extremely well protected). It probably won’t destroy the main battle tank (MBT), but it can knock it out of the fight for a while.
